Warlords Daughter

NAFISA AL-MASOUD is the beautiful daughter of an Afghani warlord. Nafisa and her mother are Shi’a Muslims living in Eastern Afghanistan, an area dominated by Sunni Muslims, many of whom are former Taliban.

SERGEANT JOSHUA “JOSH” MARTIN is a reserve Special Forces sergeant who runs Camp Thunder, the top special operations training facility in the U.S. He is considered the best Special Operations trainer in the country and is called up and sent to Afghanistan.

Josh is assigned to General al-Masoud’s compound, where he is put in charge of 70 Afghan soldiers. Josh and Nafisa develop a serious, but forbidden, relationship. They are desperate for a way for Nafisa to escape the compound and marry Josh.

There is a rumor that a large contingent of fighters will infiltrate Afghanistan, but, to get detailed information, Josh must travel through the dangerous Khyber Pass to Peshawar, Pakistan, to meet with a high-ranking government official who has el-Qaida contacts. The mission is a success. However, one of the al-Qaida men killed is the Pakistani president’s cousin, and he is killed in Pakistan. There is a political furor, and the U. S. Military court-martials Josh.

Back in Washington, a review of the year’s Special Operations missions reveals that all were failures, with the exception of the one carried out by the unit Josh trained at Camp Thunder. Josh is called back to the States from Afghanistan. Josh impresses the panel with his analysis of the missions, and he is ordered to restart training at Camp Thunder. As a result of that training, Special Operations carries out numerous successful missions. When accurate intelligence about al-Qaida becomes difficult to come by, Josh is sent back to Afghanistan to contact his former sources.

Meanwhile, Josh and Nafisa are able to communicate on encrypted cell phones. They devise a plan for Nafisa to travel with her mother to Spain, where Josh will meet them.

The President of the al-Qaida Leadership Council is a hot-tempered man consumed by the desire for revenge after his son’s death in the raid orchestrated by Josh. After a botched attack on Camp Thunder, he hires an assassin, PATTO BIN-TAWAGALI to kill Josh. Bin-Tawagali kidnaps the couple as they leave their wedding celebration in Cordoba, Spain. They are taken to an abandoned building, where the couple is tied to chairs to await execution.

Josh hurls himself through a window to distract Tawagali and save Nafisa. Josh kills Tawagali, but is taken to a hospital where he lies unconscious for two days while Nafisa struggles futilely to escape her bonds. Josh awakens in a panic; her location is a mystery. Still extremely weak, Josh sneaks out of the hospital and searches for her.

Meanwhile, Nafisa remains tied up in the abandoned building, suffering from extreme thirst and hunger. She screams for help and struggles against the ropes, but in vain. After days of frantic searching, Josh finds Nafisa, who is near death. She succumbs on the way to the hospital, but Josh is able to revive her with his Special Forces field training. After their perilous journey, Josh and Nafisa are permanently reunited and ready to begin their new life in America.
